Terri's Home Depot Tips
Find inexpensive items for mixed media art projects at Home Depot!
Magic Mesh:
Scrapbook stores have a product called Magic Mesh. It costs about $3 for 14 inches or so, and is available in lots of colors. You can find an inexpensive and versatile substitute for Magic Mesh in the drywall section of your local hardware store. It is a large, self adhesive white roll. It can be custom colored in many ways using inks, acrylic paints or Memories Mists. I place my mesh on a Teflon sheet or wax paper and paint, spray or ink it, let it dry and it is ready to use.
Paint color sample chips:
Paint chips can be used as an embellishement or to punch a shape from. You do not need to get one of each color, but perhaps grab a couple each time you go. This is a free material that has a variety of uses in mixed media progects. Be sure to make a purchase on the same visit and let Home Depot know how much you appreciate them!
There is a scrap wood area and you can get most pieces for free... I use their molding in my altered books and altered art projects.
